Yeesh, I've never been so popular since I stopped drawing.

Whoops, I thought I could keep this thing updated at least once a month- I sure hope no one noticed...

Right now I've got plenty of illustrations almost finished, and a bunch of new projects just starting- so expect a flood to follow the drought. But to paraphrase something Henry Rollins once screamed: "Don't think about it, Don't talk about it, Don't lie about it - Do it"

Last weekend I got to meet a childhood idol I never outgrew when I saw a lecture by the artist and author of the Dinotopia series, James Gurney- so I've been pretty inspired and ambitious lately. The guy is a total pro, and it's fascinating to hear him speak about his process. Yes, I had my tattered old copy of the book signed. Yes, he drew a dinosaur for me.

My actual life has been keeping me busy enough lately- I've been trying to find some extra part time work or a 2nd real job, so I've been going to a few interviews. Also, I've had plenty to do at the job I already have thanks to an upcoming exhibit the gallery is providing some pieces for. So if anyone needs any information about the Kifwebe masks of the Songye people from the Democratic Republic of Congo, I can hook you up.

I'm not usually one to enjoy New Year's, it reminds me of too many auld acquaintances I've forgotten. However, because my last journal entry is so old it's got whiskers on it, I've decided a fine resolution would be to keep this account more active. I haven't been posting or browsing nearly as much as I used to, and it seems like a shame to piddle that exposure down my leg.

So there you have it, a stranger on the internet has made you a promise.

I must admit, I didn't realize Abraham Lincoln and Charles Darwin were born on the same day- today being their shared bicentennial. So to celebrate, tonight I watch Conquest of the Planet of the Apes</b>, which is not a total non-sequitur if you're familiar with the film.
